TIG will request for the first formal meeting with the project design team to introduce the spec team, obtain a quick project overview to ensure the spec team is on the same page as the design team, and confirm dates of submission. This is also where TIG explains the spec production process.
TIG will review client’s existing design documents such as drawings, schedules, reports, and similar documents, as provided to them, to develop a comprehensive Materials Selection Sheet (MSS) that covers the full architectural scope. Once completed, the MSS will be issued to the design team for their review and comments.
TIG will request for a collaborative workshop with the design team to review the accuracy of the MSS, fill in gaps, gather missing specification information and provide advise on products, as necessary.
TIG will prepare and deliver a draft architectural specification using their in-house baseline as starting point, along with a Query Report to highlight missing information requiring inputs from the design team.
Client’s design team is required to review the draft architectural specification, providing to TIG spec review comments, along with responses to the Query Report, in a timely manner according to the agreed submission dates.
TIG will update the architectural specification based on the provided spec review comments and latest design information. The architectural
specification will undergo comprehensive
proofreading prior to final submission.

Having previously worked in the Middle East (Dubai and Abu Dhabi, UAE), the UK (London), Australia (NSW, Victoria and Perth), Hong Kong and the Philippines, Jeff has considerable experience producing architectural specifications in these parts of the world. He has been trained under the prestigious Schumann Smith Specification Consulting (later known as Davis Langdon Schumann Smith), the pioneers in specification writing/consulting services in the UK.
He has a broad knowledge in the different formats of specification such as CSI MasterFormat, NBS/CAWS and NATSPEC and the intricacies of adapting each format to the specific requirements of the region, which he has shared with the members of his team to ensure that all his clients receive high quality architectural specifications.
Marissa has over 20 years’ of experience in the construction industry; 13 years of which was dedicated to architectural specification writing and consulting. Marissa previously held senior roles at SCL Spec and Earlymark Consulting, two of the largest specification consulting firms in Australia. She now co-manages The Ivory Group NSW Pty

Her international experience spans both Australia and the Middle East (UAE) where she has developed and delivered custom specifications for projects using various formats including CSI MasterFormat, CAWS and NATSPEC. She is proficient at aligning specifications with regional building codes, standards, procurement routes and construction contracts. Before transitioning into specification consulting, Marissa built a strong foundation in roles such as estimator, quantity surveyor and project controls specialist, working across sectors including energy and chemicals, education, residential, commercial and industrial.
